​Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in extensive drawing practice, studying the significance of line and light, the shaping of volume, the use of inverted perspective, and the theatrical structure of composition that defines this tradition. Together, we will sketch figures, forms, and heads to understand how ancient painters constructed meaning through visual rhythm and abstraction.

A central part of the workshop is hands-on experience with dry egg tempera, one of the oldest and most enduring painting techniques. Participants will work with the authentic four-color palette of Polygnotus (5th century BC), discovering the luminous quality and expressive potential of this ancient medium — still used today in contemporary fine art for its depth and resilience.

By the end of the three days, each participant will complete a portrait or figure of their choice, gaining both a foundational understanding of this historical technique and a renewed appreciation for its relevance in the present.
